 | The result of Clyde's hiker challenge leaves the poor Trail Master gasping for air. While Mount Washburn was not the toughest hike in Yellowstone, it was a rather challenging hike nonetheless. The way we did it while we were there was to hike to the top of the mountain--a good 10,000 footer, though you start only a couple thousand feet lower than that--and hike to the top. From there, we hiked down the other side of the mountain to the Yellowstone Canyon area, where mom and dad were staying that night. The hike down was tough because it was so steep. The hike up was tough because of the high winds which were blowing (we have a picture of Clif and I standing at the top of Mount Washburn, both of us holding our hats on our heads to keep them from blowing off...the hats, not our heads). |
