Yet another reference to my brother's semester in France. I also really enjoy putting Clyde in the beret all the time (I think I'll stop doing that by the end of this storyline, though). And for the record--no, I'm not some sort of sexist pig idiot. The second panel is what is known as "satire;" i.e., I don't actually think that just because someone is female they automatically know all about cooking. Jerome, of course, probably doesn't actually think that, but he likes to piss people off and push their buttons. As for poor Simon...one gets the feeling that he thinks he ought to have more control over his own fate.
