My brother, Clif, upon whom Clyde is based, really did just spend a semester in France. In fact, he got back only a couple of days before this comic ran. Note the shows Simon is watching--first, a VH1 show about the boy band that Clyde and Earl were both in. Then, he's watching Celestial Gladiators. How he is able to watch that show I don't know. He must have a really comprehensive cable program.
